Dear Friends,
MARCH IS ENDO AWARENESS MONTH!
It’s our month to spread the word about endo—what it is, and how it affects the lives of 6.3 million women and girls in the U.S.—89 million worldwide.
Just talking about endo and the Endometriosis Association may mean that one girl finds out that she can ask for help for “killer cramps;” and that one woman realizes it is not “all in her head,” and finds a doctor who will help her.
Isn’t she worth it?
The federal National Institutes of Health spends only $2.70 per woman and girl with endo on endo research!
Aren’t you worth more than $2.70?
We’ve got to spread the word!
Choose how you want to spread the word:
Wear a yellow ribbon everywhere this month! That’s the color for Endo Awareness. While any yellow ribbon will do, the EA yellow ribbons say “Endometriosis Association,” and “Ask me about endometriosis.” If you’d like us to send one or more to you, let us know at endo@EndometriosisAssn.org .
When someone asks you what the ribbon means, tell them about endo and give them one of the EA’s yellow brochures. Let us know how many brochures you’d like and we’ll send them! The yellow brochure has been translated into many languages, and is available to download from the EA website, and we have brochures for girls, teens, and women in menopause too.
Folks on Facebook:
- Post “It’s Endometriosis Awareness Month” on your Facebook page, along with our website link: www.EndometriosisAssn.org.
- Join the cause: “Endometriosis Association Official Cause.” Then invite others to join and to donate.
- Visit the EA Facebook page, “Endometriosis Association Official Site,” and become a friend.
Blog or Tweet for endo awareness!
Use GoodSearch.com when searching on the Internet. It’s powered by Yahoo and it’s free. Select the “Endometriosis Association (Milwaukee Wisconsin)” as the cause you’re searching for & a donation will go to the EA. Use GoodShop.com when you’re shopping online. The EA gets a donation, and you may find discounts you can use. Tell your friends!
At the office: Does your company or organization have a newsletter? Talk to the editor to see if they will include information about endo in the next issue. Donate! Ask co-workers to donate. If your company matches your donations—even better!
Getting together with friends for coffee, lunch, dinner or drinks in March? Ask if you can celebrate Endo Awareness Month by telling them about the EA! (Spreading the word means that friends will know we’re a resource for those they know with endo symptoms.)
Contact your local TV and radio stations, and newspapers to let them know March is Endo Awareness Month and ask them to run a story on endo. (Ask for their health reporter.) Mention that it’s the Endometriosis Association’s 30th Anniversary year, too! (Let us know if you need info to send to them.)
Do all the libraries in your area have the Association’s book, Endometriosis: The Complete Reference for Taking Charge of Your Health? If not, you may want to raise funds to provide copies. (You can order books through us or any major bookseller.)
Especially for Teens
Post “It’s Endometriosis Awareness Month” on your MySpace page (or IM or tweet it) along with our website link: www.EndometriosisAssn.org .
Spread the word that “Killer Cramps” are not normal! Tell your friends to take the “Do I Have Endometriosis?” interactive quiz on our home page at www.EndometriosisAssn.org .
Write a story about your experience with endo and submit it to www.TeenInc.com and/or to your school newspaper. (We can supply you with facts. Be sure to send us a copy—we’d love to see it!)
Schedule an Endo Awareness meeting at your school. We’ll send your school the kit with the teen video and brochures. Collaborate with your school nurse or health sciences teacher.*
*Friends, please consider a donation to make the teen endo awareness kits and all our worthwhile activities possible.
Celebrate Endo Awareness Month in honor of women and girls everywhere!
Please let me know how you celebrated Endo Awareness Month 2010! (I’d like to include it in the next EA newsletter.) Thanks!
Wishing You all the Best,
