Our Mission
The Endometriosis Walk for Awareness is a volunteer-based outreach initiative
founded in 1999 by five women with endometriosis. An affiliate of the
Endometriosis Association, an international non-profit organization
specializing in education, support, and research, the Endometriosis
Walk for Awareness strives:

To present a unified voice internationally on behalf of girls and
women with endometriosis.

To
bring together women and girls from around the world, presenting the
many faces of endo as one.

To
end the sense of isolation experienced by those living with the disease.
-
To
empower women with endometriosis to become healthcare activists for
themselves, their families, and their communities.
Our
goals for individuals participating in the Endometriosis Walk for Awareness
are:

To
confront the taboos and dispel the myths surrounding the disease.

To
demonstrate to members of the public and the medical community that
endo can and does affect girls and women everywhere in the world.

To
educate members of the general public and the medical community about
endometriosis and its seriousness.
-
To
educate government officials about the disease and to stress the need
for allocating government and private funds for endometriosis research.
March
is Endometriosis Awareness Month. In the past, there have been organized
national walks to increase awareness and educate others about endo.
In 2002, the walks will be local. The Endometriosis Association is encouraging
local support groups to organize walks in their own communities.
Endowalk 2002 can be as large or as small as you want it to be. Two
people or two hundred can do it, whatever works for you and your community!
There is no specific date set for the walks, we just ask that they be
held in March. Please contact the Support Coordinator at headquarters
for more information and ideas. Thank you for helping raise awareness
of endo!
The Endometriosis Walk for Awareness is supported by an unrestricted
